If a digital service wants to protect its service quality, it needs to focus on the importance of copyright. Digital watermarking is commonly used as a protection mechanism for files posted on the Internet. In recent years, the launching of social networking websites has highlighted the importance of looking into digital content security. In this study, the characteristics of digital watermarking and the influencing factors of digital rights management were used to analyze digital content providers' needs for managing digital rights. The results showed that value, sharing, protection, and management are four factors that can be used to analyze a digital content provider's requirements. Furthermore, it was found that digital content providers give importance to the management of the content that they share; and when they share contents online, they want to prevent illegal attacks. Different providers were then analyzed, and it was found that the female respondents often share digital content, so they need digital protection more than the male respondents. Older people were found to be very careful about the value of the digital content that they post online; they need protection to preserve that value. If the digital content industry and the Internet can provide appropriate digital rights management for users, those users will be satisfied in using it.
