The Taiwan Men's Volleyball Team has earned a golden opportunity to participate in the World Men's Volleyball League by winning many awards and breaking records in international play. The development of the Top Volleyball League enhanced players' technique and performance by providing numerous opportunities to compete. In 2014, the Chinese Taipei Volleyball Association selected elite and suitable teenaged players to make the Conti team; these players were assigned to participate in the Top Volleyball League and benefit from its training mode. The goal was to increase Taiwan's international ranking. Unfortunately, the results were not as expected. In the 2016 U20 Asian Cup Volleyball Championship, Taiwan's ranking dropped from 6th to 12th, which was its worst ever. The reasons for this rapid decline could be observed from their performances during Top Volleyball League. Methods: This study collected data and analyzed the differences of age and years of playing experience in the Conti team and other teams' performances during the Top Volleyball League. Results: According to the findings, there was a big gap between the Conti team and other teams in Top Volleyball League in terms of the game intensity, age, and professional volleyball experience. Teenage players in the Conti team were unable to compete at the highest level during the games. This frustration may have had a negative impact on young players' confidence and enthusiasm. Conclusion: In light of this, we recommended that the authority should pay attention to the Conti team's struggles. We propose a better approach for rebuilding the teams to increase the expertise of young players in Taiwan.
