197名視力正常(或矯正後正常)且聽力正常的大學生以視覺方式辨識CV單詞(聲母加韻母ㄚ或ㄧㄚ)，而以凝聚層次式組間平均鏈結群落法分析數據，並以反應次數是否達到刺激次數的75%做為判定音素是否屬於同一群落的標準，發現受試者能辨別的聲母視素有五個：〔ㄅㄆㄇ〕、〔ㄈ〕、〔ㄏ〕、〔ㄌ〕、〔ㄉㄊㄋㄍㄎㄐㄑㄒㄓㄔㄕㄖㄗㄘㄙ〕。所有的聲母都有所屬的視素群落，而且有個獨立視素。音素正確辨識率為28.57%，而視素正確辨識率為92.19%，顯示聲母的混淆現象多半發生在同一視素群落中。此外，報告中並且探討了影響視素的可能因素、各視素形成的可能原因，以及臨床上的應用。

Average linkage between groups method of the agglomerative hierachical clustering analysis was applied on the data. The criterion to determine if a consonant belonged to a viseme cluster was 75%. The results showed that subjects could identify five viseme clusters. All 21 consonats were assigned to the five viseme clusters. The correct phoneme and viseme identifications were 28.57% and 92.19%, respectively. It showed that the consonant confusion occurred frequently in viseme clusters. The factors which might affect viseme cluster, the possible reasons why these five visemes clustered, and the clinical applications were discussed.
