本文旨在探討質化研究的方法及其特色。過去數十年來,量化研究方法是圖書館學與資訊科學研究的主流,然而量化研究的限制,不斷被學者拿出來探討,並呼籲利用質化研究來分析圖書館學與資訊科學的問題。因此作者首先說明量化研究產生的問題,再析論質化研究之特質,最後並比較這二種研究典範之差異,以不使研究人員對質化研究方法有更深入的認識。
Quantitative method have been applied in most of the research of library and information science for decades, however, the problems of quantitative method have been identified and criticized by scholars in many ways. In this article, the characteristics and limitations of quantitative method and qualitative method are introduced first, the different approaches of the two research paradigms are discussed then. In conclusion, the author suggests that the qualitative method should be utilized further to enrich the research of library and information studies.
