傳統上世俗化的概念，常被用來解釋近代基督宗教的發展與變遷；而教會與小群類型模式（The Church-Sect Typology）也常被學者們用來描述基督宗教發展與變遷的軌蹟。然而，世俗化的概念和教會與小群類型模式，卻無法解釋當代保守教派的增長與小群宗派的蓬勃發展。本文藉著分析一個在美國的臺灣人移民教會--洛杉磯臺語福音教會--，由主流教派背景的教會轉型為第三波小群類型的教會，找尋一個可能描述與解釋當代保守教派增長與小群宗派蓬勃發展的理論架構。 本文係根據開放系統觀點與資源動員理論所建構的理論架構，歸類與分析經由個案研究設計所獲得的研究資料。資料分析顯示，有利的結構情境、環境資源與組織動力等三組類別因素，與各組類別因素內個別因素的有效互動，促成洛杉磯福音教會的轉型。研究結果顯示，特定宗教組織的發展與變遷，須視環境結構的發展與資源的有無，以及宗教組織內部對外在發展的反應而定，因此，作者認為根據開放系統觀點與資源動員理論所建構的理論架構，比傳統世俗化的概念或教會與小群類型模式，更適於解釋宗教發展的相關問題。作者進一步指出，透過開放系統與資源動員理論觀點的觀察，可以更貼切的協助吾人回答一個新興宗教團體或主流宗教團體：為什麼會在特定的時空產生、興盛或衰亡，以及這些宗教團體是如何適應周圍環境的變遷，獲得生存與發展的契機。

　　　　　In This Article, a Theoretical Framework Based on the Open System and Resource Mobilization Perspective. That Stresses Structural Conduciveness, Environmental Resources, and Organizational Dynamics Was Developed to Explain How Changes in the Structural Conditions and Environmental Resources and Effects of organizational Dynamics Promoted the Transformation of the Evangelical Formosan Church of Los Angeles (EFCLA). This Effort Was Made to Develop a Substitutive Theoretical Framework on the Interpretation of Growth of Conservative Churches and Sects, Because of the Weakness of Traditional Theories on This Area. Utilizing a Case Study Design, This Article Focus on the Transformation of The EFCLA from a Mainline Background Church to a Sectarian Religious Practices. The Author Suggests That the Open System and Resource Mobilization Perspective is an Appropriate Perspective for Studying the Development of New Immigrant Christian Churches Like the EFCLA and of other Religions Like Sects and Cults.
