Chia-ling River嘉陵江which was designated as Pa巴country. At a very early time, the P'u started moving out of the Pa region. Migrating westward, they arrived at the western ends of Szu-ch'uan, Hsi-kang 西康 and Yun-nan 雲南. They later expanded southward and entered Kuei-chou 貴州. Afterwards, they headed back towards the east to western Hu-pei 湖北. Then they folowed the Yangtse River downstream south through western Hu-nan 湖南 and Chiang-hsi 江西 and later continued north through Ho-nan 河南 and Shan-tung 山東.Some cultural traits of the P'u were rather similar to those represented by Fu-hsi 伏羲, who according to legend was the leader of a tribe in ancient China. Since the two characters"P'u" and "Fu" are quite close in pronunciation and the character"P'u"has even been pronounced as "Fu"at certain times, the author concludes that Fu-hsi was somehow related to the P'u. Although Fu-hsi essentiall ybelongs to the tradition of legends that were passed on long before written characters were invented, some scholars believe that there is some historical truth to these myths. However, I find it necessary to wait for further concrete evdence in order to prove hsi existence.
