Geographic education in Taiwan has been relatively dismissed. In particular, junior high school geographic education has faced the problems of wanting well-trained teachers and appropriate teaching resources and aids. This study has two main purposes: (1) to survey pedagogic problems of junior high school geographic education; (2) to collect and compile teaching materials for geography at jurior high school level. Two sets of questionnaires are designed and used to carry out the research tasks. Although the survey had a low response rate, this study is enhanced by literature review and expert conferences. Geography, as a multi-disciplinary subject mater, is a field of many wonders. However, the structure of the junior high school education and the insufficiency of teaching resources and geography teachers have all contributed to the failure of geographic education at the junior high school level. The shortage of students' field observation and the lack of appreciation for man-land relation also contribute to the failure. To ensure that geographic education will increase students' ability to adapt to different environments and make them better citizens of the country, home geography at the junior high school level should play a bigger role than it does today.
