The main purposes of this study were to investigate visitors' perception of recreation conflict and the factors that affect recreation conflict. Besides, the feasibility of using recreation conflict as an indictor for determining social capacity was evaluated. The Tatun Nature Park was chosen for empirical study. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by descriptive analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and correlation analysis. The results are summarized as follows: (l)The level of visitors' perceptions of recreation conflict is not as expected. Most respondents feel "no interference", and the average value of interference is 3.03. (2)The education level and the cognition of social inteiaction at the Tatun Nature Park affect visitors' perceptions of recreation conflict. (3)Use levels, perceptions of resource impact and interference due to others' behaviors affect visitors' perceptions of recreation conflict. (4)Visitors' perceptions of recreation conflict is varied with number of users and different visitor groups.
