課程係為達到學程目標，由教育機構所提供之教學科目；而核心課程一般為該學 科的重要理論基礎。基本而言，圖書資訊學系核心課程代表著圖書資訊學之核心知識與技能 ，以及各類型圖書館所需的理論、原則、實務與價值，因此為圖書資訊學教育之重要基礎。

Basically, the core curriculum of schools of library and information science represents the core knowledge and skills of this academic field, and those theories, principles, practices, and values involved in all kinds of libraries. Therefore, the core curriculum is the important basis of education in library and information science.
