「資訊研究」依時代進展，其研究的重點、內容和研究取向容或不同，然而資訊
傳播及使用的本質，則並未改變，能夠掌握資訊研究的精神，並依時代的需要，及時規畫未
來的方向，我們才能從「馬車製造業」，昇華到「運輸業」。本文旨在探討一個具有時代性
的資訊研究的範疇，分別從學科的演進、學者對「圖書館學」與「資訊科學」的不同看法、
圖書館學校名稱及課程的更異，以及相關研討會主題的更迭，來分析未來資訊研究的可能方
向。本文指出資訊研究的精神乃在於協助每個個體有平等獲取資訊的機會，因此資訊研究包
括七大範圍：人、資訊（知識）、科技，資訊服務組織（如圖書館、資訊中心、資訊顧問等
）、系統設計、資訊和科技對社會的影響、以及教育和推廣。配合時代的需要，人文和科技
合作，資訊素養教育研究和推展，是資訊研究兩個值得努力的方向。

The author argues that an explicit model for information research is
needed for the better design of an integrated and interdisciplinary curriculum.
To identify such an explicit model, the historical development of the two major
information research approaches, librarianship and information science, is
reviewed; the current state of the field, including the changing curriculum and
the changing names of the schools, is depicted; and the themes of the selected
conferences are examined. A model for information research in proposed. Seven
research areas and two major research trends are suggested.
