Information literacy is the basic skill for life-lint learning in the information society. The author argues that the evolution of library mission in the information age is education, particularly to enhance the individuals to become information literate. In order to achieve the goal, the field of the librarianship should fully support the education needs in terms of providing multi-learning resources and integrating information literacy skills into formal curriculum design. The education administrators should take actions to change the current rigid curriculum. Librarianship should actively educate their librarians to meet the new challenges and to fulfill the new mission.
