This is field study of the behavior of a pregnant woman with Nephritic Syndrome when she faces the necessity of the Cesarean Section of her premature child. From July 10, 1995 to July 25, 1995, this woman was hospitalized for her Nephritic Syndrome. During this period, we collected 14 process recording. The case was faced with the following pressures: (1) the safety of her child, and (2) the possibility of separation. In response to the above pressures, the mother was strongly worried about the problems of her duty as a mother and her own health. Her behavior can be analyzed by (1) her response to the early premature birth of her child and (2) her response to the high-risk pregnancy. first, her response to the early premature birth of her child includes the following behaviors: (a) to reduce her expectancy of the weight of the child; (b) to find the help from herbal and classical Chinese medical cares; (c) to find support from her religious belief. Second, her response to the high-risk pregnancy includes the following behaviors; (a)to find all the possible information; (b) to find support form her religious belief; (c) to execute her mother instincts. We, as care givers used psychological approaches by hearing what she felt and by discussing with her all the possible consequences of her illness in order to help her face the pressures she encountered. During our conference, we gave her the correct concept of untrition to cope with her illness and we showed her our understanding of her finding the support from her religious beligious belief and other tolk medical support.
