The regulations of verbally talented students who entered universities through recommendation have been implemented in Taiwan for six years. The purpose of this study was to understand the verbally talented students' adjustment in any area after entering universities and to provided a basis for improving the current screening system. In addition, the study was to provide the university professors a basis for guiding their verbally talented students. The first stage of this study was to understand students' recent situations through their returning questionnaire. The contents of questionnaire included satisfied level of their study, learning situations, living adjustment, career planning, and their satisfied level of the current screening system. Another questionnaire was also provided to the instructors for understanding their opinions on the students' learning adjustment, learning characteristic, living adjustment, etc. The second stage of this study was to interview with the students. In addition, the language instructors and related teachers from all Taiwan areas were invited for a discussion meeting to discuss students' situations in schools. Teachers' opinions and suggestions about the current screening system were also being considered. There were 391 students and 250 instructors selected as research sample. 445 returned questionnaires were collected among them. The total returned percentage was 69.4%. The interviewees were selected from 100 students specialized in Chinese and English, who agreed to be interviewed from their returning questionnaires. 59 among them were reported. The main findings of this research were to explain the verbally talented students' personal data, satisfied level of their schools, learning adjustment, living adjustment, career planning, satisfied level of the screening system, and their instructors' viewpoints and suggestions about the current screening system.
