In this study, the qualitative research method was introduced, and the purpose is to establish the co-evolution model between firm’s capabilities and industrial regimes. The time period of the evolution from 1989 to 2009 is around 20 years, during the research processes, the researcher utilizes the methodology of field study and archival research for data collection as well as coding、conceptualization and framework construction.
The researcher identify the building of firms capabilities in circulation following by firms capabilities development- organizational transformation- operational performance- managerial intentionality, remedy to the loop of changing of industrial regimes as the change of industrial capabilities- renewal of industrial regimes- reshaping capabilities profiles- industrial research behavior, And proposed several related propositions according to above findings. The driving forces of firm''s capabilities development came from managerial intentions and competitive pressures, by contrast, the capabilities profile of firms and regulations are shaping the industrial regimes. Firms adopt the exploration research processes when willing to manipulating the industrial competitive situations, and using exploitation research processes for adaptation to conformance with new industrial competitive regimes. In this study suggesting a balance of combination of exploration and exploitation to constructing the capabilities upon to the firm owns.
