人工智慧 (artificial Intelligence，Al) 與地理資訊系統 (Geographic Information System，GIS) 結合是地理資訊系統發展的趨勢，專家系統 (expert system，ES) 是常見的結合方式，然專家系統的結合有專家知識不容易獲取的困難。案例式推理 (case-based reasoning，CBR) 是新近發展的推理方法之一，它以問題 (problem) 及解決方法 (solution) 為推理的基礎。本研究嘗試結合地理資訊系統與案例式推理方法，以通訊業選址為應用實例，探究兩種技術整合的可行性，評估及預測候選區址的營業情形，並且與傳統迴歸預測法進行比較。結果顯示以案例式推理方法結合地理資訊系統可以增強地理資訊系統分析與決策的能力，是極具潛力可行的應用方向，推論的結果也比迴歸分析法準確。

This paper examines the feasibility of applying case-based reasoning techniques This paper examines the feasibility of applying case-based reasoning techniques (CBR) in geographic information systems (GIS) to solve location-siting problems. The sales revenue of proposed new shops are predicted from the sales revenue of existing shops. This projected sales revenue is used as an indictor for the location decision of a new shop. The paper also reports on a comparison of case-based reasoning with regression analysis. The results show 1) that the analytical functions of a GIS can be improved by applying CBR and 2) that the accuracy of predictions using the CBR technique are much better than by using regression analysis.
