Spinoza is a Rationalist philosophers who has long been admired and respected by Chinese scholars and philosophers due to his tranquil personality and his perseverance in searching for reality. Is most famous work, Ethics, formulates one of the most consummate systems of metaphysics in philosophy and has also been recognized as philosophy of life. Many contemporary readers are fascinated by the geographic representations in Ethics (e.g., definitions are given first, followed by axiom, propositions, and then deductive conclusions), which gave both meanings and forms to the essence of philosophy. The eight definitions of God in Ethics represent his philosophical and epistemological stance, and it is those definitions of God that I would like to discuss in this paper. I will try to clarity several problematic issues regarding the definitions. I will also provide criticism and comparison of viewpoints between Spinoza and others.
