安琪拉．卡特（Angela Carter）稱她所寫的最後一部末日小說《新夏娃受難記》（The Passion of the New Eve）為「反神話計劃」，書中所破解的父權神話特別是她謂之為「虛構」的陰性特質（femininity）。在這部作品中，卡特利用奇洲小說的特殊形式，使得文化中受潛抑者（the repressed）得以回訪，並進而搖撼掩蓋社會符號層（the socio-symbolic）破綻的社會幻象（social fantasy）其中包含「女人」（Woman）、烏托邦與性關係等幻象。在卡特解構父權文化所製造的神話並及越男性社會幻像的同時，她揭露「女人」這個概念不存在以及烏托邦與性關係的不可能性，而後二者以拉崗的精神分析理論觀之實乃一體兩面。
