本研究旨在探討家庭生命週期與家庭休閒參與頻率、休閒阻礙的關係，並進一步的分析性別的差異對這些關係所造成的影響。研究發現，（1）男女對休閒阻礙因素的知覺是有差異的，婚姻對男女在休閒阻礙的知覺上亦有顯著的影響，且女性所受的影響甚於男性；（2）不同的家庭生命週期有不同的阻礙因素，單身者的生理阻礙因素最低，財務阻礙度最高；小孩年滿18歲者其生理阻礙度最高；（3）不同的家庭生命週期對於休閒參與頻率有顯著的影響，單身者最多，其次是小孩年滿18歲的家庭；有小孩1-6歲者其家庭休閒參與是最少。（4）除了小孩13-17歲的家庭是女性的休閒參與頻率多餘男性，男女在參與休閒的頻率並不因家庭生命週期的差別而有顯著的不同。
