The recent development of modern China has promoted global economic growth and raises the competition for the entire global trade. Due to the immense potential benefits from expanding trade, the study of Chinese becomes rather important. Today, the Chinese learning population exceeds 30 millions which include the United States, France, Japan, Korea, Germany, England, and other countries. The Chinese learning population is growing and will continue growing steadily in the near future. With the increasing need of Chinese learning, its priority unquestionably lies at the very center of how to effectively enhance study result. One way of achieving this goal is able to use and integrate technology and media effectively. Technology is an important instructional tool for active learning. We all know that the utilization of educational technology has been advocated to advance language learning. It has also been applied to Chinese teaching and learning from 1970 and expanded quickly and widely in 1995. The purpose of this study is to investigate the current implementation of educational technology on Chinese teaching to see how technology supports Chinese teaching and learning. The collection of related literature provided data to analyze the importance, current implementation, and future trend of educational technology in Chinese teaching. In addition, useful internet resources and a review of Chinese learning software are offered as reference for instructors and learners.
