藝術家進駐(artist-in-residence)計畫與藝術村(artist village)在歐美的發展起始於1950、60年代之際，而亞洲各國在1990年代開始逐漸普遍。受到當代藝術思潮的影響，藝術的創作越來越趨向走進日常生活的現場，也往往呈現在地的文化、當下生活的事件與流行的議題，藝術進駐與藝術村的開放性和流動性正好為回應當代藝術的發展趨勢找到一個可以不斷實驗與創新的方向。在藝術家進駐計畫的過程與結果中，藝術家對於其所介入的文化與場域有更多的關注，亦是在此開放性的過程中對自我的文化認同(cultural identity)得以有更細膩的思考。本論文試圖由不同之國內外藝術家進駐計畫的案例，論述在其過程中對不同社群之(community)文化議題、介入特定場域(site-specific)的藝術以及異文化交流等議題的反省。

The development of artist-in-residence schemes and artist village in Europe and America started during the 1950s and 1960s, while they were gradually practiced in Asian countries. Through the influence of contemporary art trend, artists' works intend to go into place of everyday life and often present local culture, current issues. The open and fluid characteristics of artist-in-residence schemes and artist villages create an experimental and innovative direction for the recent development of contemporary art. In the process and result of artist-in-residence schemes, artists often engage with specific culture and place and it is also in this open process that artists deeply reflect on their own cultural identity. Therefore this paper intends to discuss about the process of current practice of artist-in-residence schemes that are related to issues of community art, site-specific art and cultural exchange.
