新加坡的華文教育近年來經歷著前所未有的變動與革新,共中最爲引人注目的莫過於2006-2007年間「單元模式」課程的正式實施,本文報告的一項正在進行的大型華文教育改革評鑒性研究項目,正是對該課程改革專案實施四年來實際效果的全方位評估。本文除了介紹新加坡華文教改的社會語言學背景外,將重點描述該項教改評估的研究方法和實施過程,目的是展示本項研究的經驗、設計和結論對世界各地華文教改項目評估的啓迪意義和借鑒價值。
Chinese education in Singapore has seen unprecedented changes and innovations over recent years, out of which the major move is the implementation of the so-called "Modular Curriculum" during 2006-2007. This paper reports an ongoing large scale publically funded research project which aims at comprehensively assessing the actual effectiveness of the aforementioned new curriculum. Apart from a discussion of some of major changes in Chinese language education that led to the introduction of the new curriculum, the focus of the paper is the description of the research methodologies employed in the project with aim at elaborating on what such a large-scale evaluative research can offer to the programs assessment of Chinese language education elsewhere in the world in terms its research framework, experience and more important, the research instruments developed in the Project.
