Yu-Fu, who is an important image of character in Chinese poetry, wasn’t regarded as an isolated analytic subject until the Tang Dynasty. Since the Tang Dynasty, poets used Yu-Fu as a theme and depicted his characteristics in their productions. Therefore, the goal of this dissertation is to analyze the poems of Yu-Fu in the Tang Dynasty, and furthermore, to illuminate the style and connotation of these poems. According to the dissertation, the image of Tang’s poems of Yu-Fu can be divided into four spiritual aspects: living a leisure life,waiting for the appropriate timing, becoming similar to “Qu Sao” (屈騷), and realizing the true meaning of “Chan.” On the other hand, the poems presented the features of arts in three dimensions. a) typicalizing the image of Yu-Fu, who lives a leisure life. b) expressing the poets’ desire to be a hermit and enduring spiritual aspiration in the poems of Yu-Fu. (c) creating a quiet and beautiful atmosphere in the view of the esthetics. Through these analyses, we can understand the importance of Tang’s poems of Yu-Fu in the history of Chinese literature.
