團體分析的創始者福克斯(S.H. Foulkes)在1940年整合神經學、社會心理學、完形治療與系統理論後，創立了團體分析學派。團體分析理論主要著重於透過事件的脈絡來暸解人類的行為，會採取由大而小的角度來看待事件。團體分析學派採取了一種比較開放與涵納多元的觀點來看團體，試圖以較為全面而整體的方式，了解團體中的成員。同時也認為團體本身就具備力量、也就是治療的主體，身在團體中就具有治療的意義，只要促進團體的成熟，每一位團體成員自然能在其中獲益。

The founder of group analysis, S.H. Foulkes, integrated the concepts of neurology, social psychology, Gestalt psychology, and system theory built up the school ofgroup analysis in 1940. The theory of group analysis emphasizes on the context of events to understand the behaviors of human. It inspects the world from a broad view to a narrow point. Group analysis holds an open attitude to contain multi-element and understand the members from a full, comprehensive perspective. Meanwhile, Foulkes also takes group itself as a powerful object of treatment. As long as being in the group, the therapeutic effect exists. All we have to do is to facilitate the maturation of the group and then, every member in the group can benefit from the group spontaneously.
