This study is a survey on design cluster of vocational high school of R.O.C. Some suggestions, in turn, art submitted to educators for future curricular revision. This paper was proceeded with literature review, telephone interviews and panel discussions with experts, and questionnaire survey. Telephone interviewees were confined to design experts in north Taiwan. Questionnaires were answered by the subjects sampled from teaachers, administrative staff and twelfth-grade students in degign cluster. The questionaire was developed based on the data gathered from telephone interviews and litersture interview and revised in the panel discussions with experts. All the data were analyzed such statistical ways as frequency, percentage and Chi-square test. Here are the findings: 1.Students' ability in desing cluster in not good enough. There is not sufficient equipment or capital. Teaching goal can not satisfy idustrial needs. 2.Schools are expected to run these following departments: computer drawing, photgraphy, advertisement, commercial packaging, landscape design, product desing, interior design, multi-media, poster, fine-arts and craft, fashion design, and printing. 3.Teachers want to have on-the-job training in colleges, industries, or abroad. And they need personal practice, and new knowledge on computing and prefessional skills. 4.More practice and professional subjects are expected to add to curricula. 5.Skill test, aptitude test and a test on related professional knowledge should be included in the entrance exam. 6.Industries need design-cluster students who have personal practice, creativity, computer drawing, communication skill and work ethics.
