     從行銷學之文獻分析中顯示,將貨物行銷技術直托轉於服務業或非營利事業的做法可能並不妥當。然而,目前有關博物館行銷的文獻卻仍然引用並採行這樣的方式。本文顯示有關博物館行銷實務取決於博物館情境之程度此理論上所建議的尤有過之,在文中所舉出的許多事例是有關博物館行銷文獻中鮮少觸及的,我們必須自博物館的特殊情境中重新評估博物館的行銷策略。本文中將博物館情境區分為:收藏品、建築、館員、組織機制和民眾五項因子。作者認為將博物館行銷放在其特殊情境中加以考慮,博物館行銷落實並朝正確方向發展的重要步驟。
