　　　　　本研究以大專學生二十一人為訪談對象，運用質的研究中深度訪談法，探討嫉妒心理的內涵及個人嫉妒心理之發展脈絡。主要研究發現如下:一、在大專學生中，常見的嫉妒有社會比較嫉妒、愛情關係嫉妒、友誼關係嫉妒、手足嫉妒四類，後三類較屬社會關係嫉妒。各類嫉妒的引發事件、反應方式和調適策略，均相當其有文化特色。二、不論那一類嫉妒均是一種組合情緒，即為數種情緒組合而成。之所以如此，是因嫉妒時，對自已、對對手、對整個事件或關係人，會有不同的相關情緒同時被引發。三、社會比較嫉妒有四種調適行為，其中看似正向的「積極超群」，越有可能產生惡性循環而其高度嫉妒。愛情關係嫉妒則有五種調適行為，其中以「與關係人溝通討論」似乎較正向有效;手足嫉妒之調適行為則不明顯。四、嫉妒除了是一種情緒狀態，可能也是一種特質傾向。早年父母沒有提供足以讓子女感受到的愛，未能使其形成正向自我概念，造成個人缺乏安全感和自我肯定，故必須以外在的成功、超越他人來彌補。若再加上個人許多成功的經驗，並因此而獲得外在的讚美與肯定，其會因怕失去這些已有的優越，而不再受人喜愛，以致強烈的見不得別人好，形成容易嫉妒的特質。五、個人的信念經常決定其嫉妒的領域，若身邊好友或手足，正巧在此領域勝過自己，將形成特定的嫉妒對象，即只對此人有強烈嫉妒。
