自西廂故事形成於《董西廂》、《西廂記》後，繼續用此題材創作的作品仍然不少，本文就其所知三十四家進行綜合探討。依作品年代先後逐一細論，而探討重心在於諸改本之主題異動，間接涉及人物、結構、語言藝術等方面。

　　Ever since the story of the Western Chamber first appears in Tung Hsi hsiang and the Hsi hsiang chi numerous later works have adapted its theme. This paper studies the 34 extant version of the story. I review each version Chronologically according to the time of their composition, and discuss the variation or re-formation of the theme in each adaption. I also discuss the structure, characters and language in each of the versions.
