Physical and socioeconomic damages of cigarette smoking have been confirmed in many studies. Because the age of smoking Is decreasing, problems of smoking among adolescents are getting more serious, Adolescence is not only a critical period to start and to build smoking behaviors, but also an appropriate time to be educated how to quit smoking behaviors. The smoking rate in adolescents will decrease effectually, if a preventive education of smoking behavior provides knowledge or cigarette health damage, positive attitudes and methods to quit smoking. Samples of this study were students who applied for requisition of smoking permission or referred by tutors. A smoking cessation program was practiced for these students. Contents of program include physical benefits of quitting smoking, conquest of negative Influence from peer groups, methods to quit smoking, and strategies of conquering illness in the period of smoking cessation. The purposes of this study were to compare students' knowledge, attitudes, and intentions towards quitting smoke before and after smoking cessation program, and to evaluate the effectiveness of this program. Results of this study showed that students' intentions to quit smoking habit are increased, students feelings to quit smoking are easier, knowledge scores are higher, attitudes towards cigarette damage are more positive, and motivations to quit smoking are also Increased after attending smoking cessation program. Therefore, the effectiveness of intervention education in smoking cessation program is significant.
