By adopting the term of mediatized politics,which focuses on the mediated role played by media in political communication and impacts brought by media’s own logic on changing and shaping politics,this paper investigates journalism practices of Su Bao and its influence on politics in the era of Zhang Shizhao.It holds that by covering the Students’ Movement,Su Bao provided and stipulated standards for observing society and politics,thereby inducing a type of social observing.Meanwhile,China Education Association’s involvement in Su Bao enabled the interactions among Patriotic Studies Association,Zhang Yuan’s speech,and the press,which led to the radical tendency.Under Zhang Shizhao’s management,Su Bao’s relentless criticism of royalists intensified.Su Bao’s revolutionary practice established itself as the symbol of a brand new culture of revolutionary press in China’s journalism history.Henceforth,China’s collective knowledge on revolution press,as well as media culture,can be traced back to Su Bao.
