The ancient Yue people, the ancestor of ethnic groups of Zhuang-Dong linguistic family in China, was both the pioneer of rice planting and the earliest grower of glutinous rice in the world. Ever since the ancient times, ethnic groups of Zhuang-Dong linguistic family have developed a systematic, unique cultural chain in terms of planting, food making and sacrifice rites of glutinous rice. It has become an important part of rice planting and dietary culture in China that its cultural connotation and academic value are worthy of further exploration.
