The purpose of this study was intended to investigate the distinctions about mental toughness of junior tennis players in Taiwan among different sexes, ages, and competition results. The subjects of this research were those junior tennis players who took part in the third National Junior Tennis Ranking Tournament, 2000. A total of 96 players were asked to fill out a sheet of mental toughness immediately after their last competitions. A score scale of mental toughness was employed in this study. Data were statistically analyzed with t-test and one-way ANOVA (α=.05). Conclusions of this research were as follows: 1.For junior tennis players from different sexes, there were no significant differences in their scores of mental toughness. 2.compared with those aged 16 and 14, junior tennis players of 18 got higher scores in their mental toughness, while those players between aged 16 and 14, no significant differences in mental toughness were discovered. 3.According to the competition results, the players from excellent groups got higher scores in their mental toughness than the rest of those common groups.
