The main purpose of this study is to explore productivity of journal literature of the life science researchers in Taiwan from perspectives of theory bibliometrics. Specifically, the distribution of journal articles was examined using Bradford's law and Bradford- Zipfs law. The relationship between journal productivity and quality was also investigated as per the impact factor and citation frequency listed in Journal Citation Reports (JCR). A total of 71,536 journal articles were retrieved from the BIOSIS Previews, MEDLNE, and EMBASE databases. The results of these studies revealed that: Zone analysis from Bradford's law and graphical formulation from Bradford-Zipfs law are inapplicable to journal distribution. Based on the impact factor and citation frequency from JCR, it can be found that the average journal impacts of the second and third zones are higher than that of the nucleus. Bradford's law of scattering and Bradford-Zipfs law identify 11 and 40 core journals, respectively, most of which were published in Taiwan.
