贈送是圖書館充實館藏的重要途徑，可節省購書經費，亦可徵集未公開發售及有價值的非賣品著作。因此，贈書業務之拓展應該受到重視。由於圖書館多半無法預估贈書的範圍或品質，若對免費資料照單全收或未加選擇，將無益館藏發展，且造成無用資料處理成本之浪費。因此有關館藏贈書之實際使用狀況，亦應探討。本文首先藉由文獻分析探討相關贈送業務之論述，其次經由臺灣地區大學及公共圖書館網頁內容分析，歸納有關贈送業務的相關規則及辦法，最後經由個案圖書館贈書館藏的流通分析，藉以評鑑該館贈書館藏之使用狀況，研究結果冀能提供各館作為贈書業務處理之參考。

Gift is an important way to improve the collection because it can save the budget and collect valuable but unsaleable titles. Since most libraries cannot predict the scope and the quality of their gift books, it is necessary to have the policy to select the gift books and avoid the waste of librarians' time in processing useless gifts. By content analysis of websites in Taiwan universities and public libraries, this article proposes some suggestions for the libraries to develop their gift collection policy.
