隨著機構典藏（Institutional Repository, IR）、開放取用（Open Access, OA）、學術搜尋引擎等的出現，學術出版型態和學術資訊傳播管道開始多樣化，傳統學術出版的價值鏈系統也隨之開始發生變遷，圖書館在傳播學術資訊上的角色定位勢必需要有所更張，始能因應未來的挑戰。本文試圖以學術傳播體系中最重要的活動—學術出版，作為主要的探討主軸，導入「價值鏈理論」的概念，根據學術出版活動價值鏈中各種價值活動的變化情形，分析作者、出版者、大學、圖書館等參與者的角色變遷，嘗試描繪未來學術出版價值體系的變遷方向、找尋學術圖書館可能的因應之道。
Due to the emerging trend of institutional repository, open access, and academic search engine, the type of academic publishing and the communication channel of academic information become diversified. Thus, the value chain system of traditional academic publishing starts to change, and the role of library in communicating academic information inevitably needs to be updated so as to meet future challenges. This paper intends to investigate one of the most important activities in the academic communication system – academic publishing and introduce the concept of “value chain system”. Based upon variation of every value activity in the value chain of academic publishing activity, this purpose of the study is to analyze the changing roles of the participants such as author, publisher, university and library, and attempt to depict future transition of academic publishing value system in order to find possible responses from academic library.
