本文選取4位國中二年級的學生作為研究對象,藉以探討國中學生科學術語的概念內容與其科學學習能力之間的關係。作者根據「鹼」的重要屬性和相關概念,以無意義的術語「BSE」取代化學術語「鹼」,設計一個包含九個工作站的探究學習情境,以從中觀察與記錄個案獨自探究的學習行為與內容。接著,分析個案發展的概念內容和呈現的科學學習能力,探討概念內容和學習能力之間的關係。結果發現:(1)個案發展的科學術語的概念內容有概括的、定義的和屬性的等三種不同的品質;(2)大多數個案都只展現觀察能力、歸納能力和解釋能力等三種科學學習能力,只有一位個案能展現更高階層的科學論證能力;(3)個案發展的科學術語內容的品質與其運用的科學學習能力有一定的關係,而且具有論證能力的個案所建構的科學術語概念內容,可以達到概括概念的品質。
