By analyzing the literatures and documents, this paper explores the vocational education system and curriculum reform for technical high school in Japan. It consists of (a) a thorough presentation of the characteristics of the vocational education system, and of the present state as well as its problems; (b) a comparative study of the contents of the guidelines of the old curriculum and the new curriculum; (c) a suggestion for vocational education reform in Taiwan. This paper also investigates some problems of the Japanese vocational education system like the system of students enrollment, college entrance, job market and curriculum management. The final part of this paper suggests that we should learn form Japanese vocational education reform and take the principle of surviving to reform our vocational education, including curriculum linking, guidance, and vocational experiences.
