The objective of this article is the analysis of the moral textbook used by Formosan aboriginal children during Japanese Colonization of Taiwan. There was only one species for each period of moral textbook during Japanese Colonization of Taiwan. By the only moral textbook “ the public school self-cultivation book – second type “, this article attempts to explore the Japanese colonial authorities to construct moral values on Formosan aboriginal children. The aim of this article is to investigate which kind of social stratum order was set upon Formosan aboriginal children by Taiwan Sotokuhu and showed the purpose of moral education of the authorities specifically. The result indicates there were 38 main characters on stage in “the public school self-cultivation book – second type”. And the imperial family is the stratum that most frequently appeared. In terms of the number that the characters showing in the lessons , this analysis reveals- Ninomiya Sontoku (Ninomiya Kinjirou), the winner, who appeared in 4 lessons, the runner-up was Ino Tadataka in three lessons, the third place was Amaterasu Ookami in 2 lessons. The stratum that Ninomiya Sontoku, the winner, representing was peasants and he was the ideal character’s image that Taiwan Sotokuhu sought for aboriginal children because this conformed to the ruler’s ultimate goal of aboriginal education namely to educate the aborigines to become agricultural producers. This also explains which kind of social stratum the aborigines were in during Japanese Colonization of Taiwan. The social stratum settings by those in power to the aborigines was hoping that they will become merely diligent workers.
