The purpose of this study was to explore the outcome of training program of independent living capability with young girls in residential care. The focus group method was conducted to collect data from 12 practitioners. Empirical results have demonstrated that the ILTP has positive effectiveness for these girls’ independent living capabilities in this halfway house. Some suggestions were recommended for child welfare practice: (1) Care practitioners design ILTP under the principles of human development, and stages of residential care. (2) Care practitioners make sure to evaluate the effectiveness of ILTP.
