Children live in the world of information. They enjoy learning, entertainment, and interacting with friends via the Internet. The skills of using information technology have become essential abilities for life. The critical factors to determine whether a school website succeeds or not lie in corresponding with children's cognitive development and perception of friendly visual environments. Based on the concept of Taguchi Method, the current study adopts the approach of convenient sampling of participants by distributing questionnaires to children at Ruey-Tarng Primary School in Taoyuan County, to investigate the extent to which the visual design and style image of a webpage attracts children. The results indicate that children prefer webpages with the following primary characteristics: one-column, high and opposite chromaticity, sequential animation, font-graphics ratios of 3:1 to 5:1, mixed usages of text, logo, picture icons, and usages of comic fonts. These characteristics of web designs can increase the levels of aesthetic attraction as well as preference among children. The designs of icon and background style are the key elements to determine the style image, attractiveness of, and preference for the webpages.
