I will share my experience about a documentary production project in this article. The subjects are two Pangcah singers who live in the east coast of Taiwan. The story is about their music, how to cope to the modern society and their tribe culture. I express the theme of the film which is tradition and innovation by the differences between them. It took me two years to shoot, and one more year for post-production. There are six different languages, over twenty different songs, in this documentary film. It is quite complex and challenging project. Due to I am camera-operator and director, so this article will take the first-person point of view. I divided it into four parts, how to prepare necessary equipment, the process of filming, how to catch the theme of the story, and the arrangement of soundtrack and subtitle. Finally I will comment the cultural meaning of this project.
