This article analyzes the project “European Educational Research Quality Indicators” (EERQI) funded by 7th Framework Program in European Union. Objectives of EERQI are to develop one set of research quality indicators in the context of Europe, and to test tools that could support the process of detecting quality in research texts. The contributions of EERQI are to enhance the global visibility and esteem of European social sciences and humanities research, and improve the transparency and quality of research assessment process. According to the results of EERQI, three issues of research assessment mechanism in Taiwan are discussed, including the integration of research assessment and database, the construction of multi research quality indicators and the development of multilingual search and translation tools in order to connect domestic and foreign global database.
