     中文詞與英文字兩種語言系統,在使用功能上是否相同,是很重要的一種文化間比較研究,本研究旨在探討中英文語文材料在屬性功能上的同異之處。實驗一是一種常模性研究,抽選239個中文雙字詞,建立它們的出現次數(F)、意義度(M)、及心像值(I)常模,發現F與M有顯著相關,M與I也有顯著相關,與以英文字為研究對象的結果相符合,但F與I則無顯著相關,與以往的英文字研究不符。實驗二旨在探討中文材料的屬性功能對人類學習與記憶的影響,自實驗一的239個中文雙字詞中抽選適合對聯學習(PAL)使用的F列表、M列表、及I列表,每一列表的刺激項一反應項(S-R)配對,祗在某一語文屬性上有差異,而控制另外兩個屬性的變化,以分別探討F,M,及I在對聯學習中的效果,結果顯示(1)出現次數效果:R及SXR的出現次數對回憶成績有顯著效果,(2)意義度效果:R的意義度對回憶成績有正效果,(3)心像值效果:S,R,及SxR心像值對回憶成績都有顯著效果。本文比較了實驗一、實驗二與以往的英文字研究,發現兩種語言系統在語文材料的屬性功能上各有其同異之處,本文繼之提出以後進一步的研究方向。
     The present study has two purposes: (1) to establish the normative frequency count (F),meaningfulness (M), and imagery value (I) of 239 Chinese two-character words for the comingstudies; (2) to assess the differential effect of F, M, and I, respectively, by manipulating only oneof the three attributes and keeping the other two constant, on the learning proficiency in analternate study-recall paired-associate learning (PAL) paradigm. Experiment I is designed for the first purpose, and Experiment 2 for the second. Experiment I reveals the significant correlation between P and M and between M and I, which are in accord with their alphabetic equivalents. The nonsignificant correlation between F and I is partly attributed to the biased selection of high frequency abstract and low-frequency concrete words. Experiment 2 depicts the following results: (1) the significant P effect on R (response units) and S x R (interaction of stimulus versus response units) in PAL; (2) the significant I effect on all three sources of variation, namely, S, R, SxR. The overall pattern suggests that, even if most of the present experimental results are in line withthose of current English language studies, the idio syncratic roperties of Chinese words shouldbe properly revisited.
