Song Yu's works first appeared in Han Shu (漢書) was sixteen pieces whereas in Sui Sbu (隋書) three volumes. The differences between them and their connections with the prevalent Song's works are deserved to be studied. It is no doubt that the scholars in Western Hah had read some of the Song's works;but it is not until the period of Eastern Han that Song's works entitled Jiu-bian (九辨) , Deng-tu-zi Hao-se mu ( 登徒子好色賦) and Gao-tang Fu (高唐賦) be mentioned in some other literary writings. There were writings entitled Feng (風) , Feng (諷), Shen-nu (神女) and Da-yan (大言) in the Six Dynasties period which might be imitative of Song's works;thus it is certainly true that the amount of Song's works known by the Six Dynasties' scholars were more than that in the Han Dynasties. So did the periods of Siu and T'ang. The content of Song's works after the re-compilation in the form of three volumes at the period of Siu Dynasty might have a little changes with the original Song's works; the Gu-zhu (古注) and Lei-shu (類書) did produced several evidences in supporting these changes. It is not until the beginning of the Song Dynasty that this three-volumes of Song's works disappeared in the literary world.
