　　自1960 年代起，圖書館已逐漸成為主要的資訊科技應用者。 圖書館乃是藉由資訊科技之功能來提升其作業效率與服務技能，以便能更有效地達成圖書館之各項目標。然而，資訊科技在圖書館中之應用亦對圖書館的各項運作及服務造成許多重大及深遠之影響。為了要能發揮資訊科技之最大效能與因應可能之改變，圖書館應要加以了解資訊科控所可能帶來之影響興衝擊。因此，本文將論述三項主要的資訊科技在圖書館中之應用情形，與其對圖書館所造盾的影響與衝擊。這三項資訊科技包括：1.單一功能之電腦系統；2.整合性圖書館自動化系統；3.網路。
　　Libraries have been gradually becoming major forums in utilizing applications of information technology since 1960s. By using information technology, the effectiveness of operations and the efficiency of services in libraries have been improved in order to achieve their goals more effectively. However, the application of information technology has produced significant impacts on libraries' operations and services. In order to accommodate the utilization of information technology, it is very important for libraries to -understand the impact brought by information technology. Therefore, this article will discuss three major applications of information technology and their impacts and influences on libraries respectively. These three applications are 1. a stand-alone computer system; 2. an integrated library system; and 3. networking.
