In the educational field, no one can doubt for a moment the profound influence of some Western thinkers, such as John Locke (1632-1704), Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778), Immanuel Kant (1724-1804), John Stuart Mill (1806-1873), John Dewey (1859-1952), Bernard Russell (1872-1970) and Alfred North Whitehead (1861-1947) on both the theories and the practices of education.
