[Purpose/significance] This paper aims to explore the paths of scientific research service innovation and value reshaping of academic libraries in the open digital research environment. [Method/process] The paper introduces the concepts of context and context-aware thinking, and applies them into the field of academic libraries. Using scientific researchers’ activity contexts and information needs as framework and principal line, mining, adapting, matching and integrating scientific new contexts as goals,"connection"as the core, the paper reconstructs the virtual space, and establishes the connection between academic libraries and scientific research users in order to expand scientific research innovation. [Result/conclusion]Context-aware thinking is an effective way to solve the dilemma of academic libraries in innovating scientific research services. The connection reconstruction between academic libraries and researchers can be expanded from two aspects: first to explore the spatial value of physical space: expanding the scope of connection between space and people,as well as between service and people; second to deepen the service value of virtual space: expanding the depth of connection between information and information, person and information, and person and person.
