"本心之明"有助于我們深入解讀孟夷之辯的豐富內涵。夷子施由親始、厚葬父母,但在與孟子辯論之前,其本心之明處于遮蔽狀態,性善的普遍性受到挑戰。經過與孟子的辯論,夷子的本心之明被喚醒,親親的特殊性得以證成。厚葬勝過薄葬,仁愛高于兼愛,經由親親的特殊性推擴并充實性善的普遍性,這是夷子在"親親"等問題上"逃墨歸儒"最重大的思想史價值;愛父母、盡孝道的本心之明是我們過一種道德人生的必由之路,這是夷子在"親親"等問題上"逃墨歸儒"最切要的倫理學意義。
The concept of conscience( one’s original mind) can help us understand the rich connotations of the debate between Mencius and Yizi,whose insistence on both Mohism and lavish funerals for his own parents reveals the ambiguity of his veiled original mind prior to the debate. The generality of the "doctrine of good nature"entailed by the particularity of "familial affection " is justified by its prevailing over the Mohist principle of "loving without discrimination. "The debate between Mencius and Yizi awakens Yizi’s veiled conscience due to his being more affectionate towards his own family than towards others,as well as his preferences for lavish funerals over frugal ones and for humaneness over impartial care. By getting a clear mind regarding the ideas that loving one’s parents and fulfilling one’s filial duties are in one’s conscience and that such a mindset is inevitable for moral life,Yizi’s abandoning Mohism and accepting Confucianism shows its ethical significance for Confucianism.
