隨著家庭結構變遷、離婚率上升，單親家庭有逐漸增加的趨勢，
單親家庭及子女成長情形，為大家關心的問題。本研究的主要目的在
瞭解單親家庭在生活、經濟、社會及心理等層面的損傷及調適情形，
與對子女所造成的影響。研究的重要發現為：
（一）不論因何種因素導致單親，其單親後的生活調適、經濟狀況、情
緒適應並無顯著差異。但因離婚而致單親者，其單親後經濟情況變好的
較多；因死亡或其他因素導致單親者，其單親後經濟情況變壞的較多。
（二）單親發生影響家庭結構損傷進而影響子女，與單親前之家庭生活狀
況及社經地位有密切關係。此與McLanahan(1995)的無影響假設相符，
即單親兒童的適應問題，可能係受單親前社經地位低落的影響。
（三）單親後親子關係良好可彌補家庭經濟差所造成的負面作用。
（四）單親事件之發生無可避免的會造成家庭結構損傷，影響家庭功能運
作，例如：發生經濟困難、社會心理壓力、親子關係疏離等問題。但結
構損傷可能會因單親家長角色重新定位及調適，使障礙僅暫時性影響家
庭功能運作。亦即單親家長有能力克服障礙，重新使家庭功能恢復正常
，子女獲得良好成長。

The rapid growth of single parent families in Taiwan has
been widely noted. The main purpose of this research is want
to find out the situation of the adolescent''s self-concept,
school achievement, behavior problem in a single-parent family.
The results show what ever facts cause the single parent fami-
ly come out, it does not affect their child''s adaptation. The
adolescent''s self-concept, school achievement, behavior problem
existed before incidence of single parent families. The pressu-
re of economic and society adaptation problem can be overcome
by parents for their reposition themself and maintain good rel-
aionship between parent and children. Parent should make family
function work well for helping their children in families.
