題名:製造彈性能力、品質管理活動與品質績效之影響關係-以台灣工具機廠商為例

過去有關品質管理活動議題之研究文獻已相當豐碩,但大多側重在廠商如何執行品質管理活動以改善經營績效等議題研究;但在面對顧客對於產品多樣化的需求及產品生命週期急速縮短的市場情況下,廠商如何致力於推動品質管理活動,以強化製造彈性能力,進而提昇品質績效的研究議題已成為近年來關注的重要議題。
台灣工具機主要係以外銷為主,在面臨全球市場的激烈競爭下,該產業若想要在國際市場佔有一席之地,必需持續的追求製造彈性能力,以期快速生產高品質、低成本及多樣化產品。準此,本論文以台灣工具機廠商為實證對象,研究議題主要包括兩部份:(1)品質管理活動對製造彈性能力之影響關係;(2)製造彈性能力對品質績效之影響關係。
本論文利用因素分析及路徑分析法進行議題研究,研究結果顯示:(1)台灣工具機廠商在特定品質管理活動的執行程度,對新產品彈性能力、產品組合彈性能力及產量彈性能力具有不同的正面影響關係;(2)台灣工具機廠商之新產品彈性能力及產量彈性能力對內部品質績效具有顯著負面的影響效應;而新產品彈性能力、產品組合彈性能力及產量彈性能力對外部品質績效具有顯著正面的影響效應。
Previous studies in quality management focused on the relationship between quality management programs and business performance. There is no empirical research investigating the effect of quality management programs on enhancing manufacturing flexibility. The emphasis of manufacturing flexibility is important to respond market competition, various customer preferences, and shorter product life cycle. For manufacturers, in order to perform “small volume-wide variety” production, quality performance, how to aggressively implement appropriate quality programs to reach desired manufacturing flexibility is an essential concern in strategy management.
The machine tool industry in Taiwan surrounds in an extremely competitive international market, a dynamic economic condition, state-of-the-art technology race, and changing customer preferences requirement. To maintain sustainable competitive advantage, machine tool industry must keep a watch on higher production efficiency for lower cost and higher standard in service and goods quality. This study selects Taiwanese machine tool industry to verify the relationship between quality management programs, manufacturing flexibility, and quality performance.
Based on the samples collected from the machine tool industry, two statistical methods were performed to test several research hypotheses. First, factor analysis with varimax rotation was applied to retrieve six dimensions of quality management programs (top management support, customer relationship, supplier management, employee participation, integration of R&D and manufacturing, and level of quality management computerization) and three types of manufacturing flexibilities (new product, product mix, and volume). Next, the path analysis was performed to examine specific one-to-one relationship between quality management programs, manufacturing flexibility, and quality performance. The results indicate that, with few exceptions, most of quality management programs have positive impact on the three types of flexibility. The relationship between supplier management and new product flexibility was found to be insignificant, and computerization was found to have no impact on volume flexibility. Furthermore, new product and product mix flexibility have negative impact on the internal quality performance but all three types of flexibility have positive impact on the external quality performance.
