ABSTRACT
According to the economic growth model, since the 1990s, in addition to the tradi-tional production factors such as land, labor, and capital, the knowledge economy has become an important factor affecting business performance. Therefore, this study in-tends to explore the impact of human capital and R & D on business performance from the perspective of high-tech industries. This article takes the education level of human capital, employee added value, research and development as independent variables. In addition, whether corporate governance have a moderating effect on the education level of human capital, employee added value, R&D and business performance, this article will discuss in detail.
The research object is the Taiwan listed electronics firms. Through the financial information of the Taiwan Economic News (TEJ) database in 2014 and 2017, a total of 397 samples were obtained. Statistical analysis is performed through the collation of secondary data. First, basic data analysis is performed on each variable with descriptive statistics, then correlation analysis is performed, and hierarchical regression analysis is finally performed.
The empirical results show that there is a positive and significant relationship be-tween the educational level of human capital, the added value of employees, and R&D. In addition, the excellent corporate governance is conducive to the business perfor-mance of the company, which strengthens the impact of R&D, human capital on busi-ness performance, that is, there is a moderating effect.
Key Words: knowledge-based economy, business performance, R&D , human capital, corporate governance.
